The
Diadem...
The
Jewels of the Craft Study and Collectors’ Circle was
founded during the summer of 1990 to promote an
interest in the study and collecting of Masonic
jewels from all Masonic orders and to promote a
wider Masonic knowledge through The Diadem -
the quarterly magazine distributed to members of the
Circle. The first issue of The Diadem was
published during the autumn of 1990. The magazine,
with 32 pages in A5 format, includes 8 pages of
colour illustrations and is a useful reference
source about Masonic jewels and their makers.
A number
of regular features are included in The Diadem
such as the study of Stewards Jewels issued at
the Annual Festivals of the three Charitable
Institutions for well over a century now – together
with the 19th century Favours that
preceded them. Another feature is based on
pre-regulation Centenary Jewels issued to Lodges
prior to 1867. Members also contribute articles
about Jewels associated with their own Lodge or
Province – or collecting themes in which they are
interested. There is also a section for Members’
queries – many of which are answered using the
wealth of experience and knowledge available from
the members of the Circle.
The Diadem
is a
magazine produced by the members for the members.
Everyone is encouraged to participate by submitting
articles about Masonic jewels and associated
memorabilia for publication. Members are also
involved in a considerable amount of original
research – including the compilation of a directory
of Masonic Jewel makers extending over nearly two
centuries. |
